World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (WWE), the American media and entertainment company primarily known for professional wrestling, has applied for a new trademark for SATURDAY NIGHT’S MAIN EVENT. Well, to be more specific, WWE has four new trademark applications, all for the mark SATURDAY NIGHT’S MAIN EVENT. The applications were all filed on August 11, and the applications were designated under international classes 009, 016, 025, and 028 (see U.S. Serial Nos. 90106771, 90106785, 90106802, and 90106818, respectively).

While it is unknown why they decided to go the route of four separate applications instead of just one application listing multiple goods and services, these aren’t the only applications that the WWE has for this mark. They also have a fifth live application for the same mark that was filed in September 2018 (see U.S. Serial No. 88129069), and they even have a live registered trademark for this same mark (see U.S. Reg. No. 3832577).
WWE has several television programs, including:
- Monday Night Raw;
- Friday Night SmackDown;
- NXT (which airs on Wednesdays);
- Total Divas (which aired its ninth and final season on the E! network in December 2019);
- Total Bellas (which will premiere its sixth season on the E! network in the fall of 2020), and;
- Miz & Mrs (a reality series broadcasted on USA Network)
It seems that WWE has its focus primarily on its main wrestling shows, so there’s speculation as to whether this trademark registration may indicate that WWE plans on adding a Saturday night program to its roster of wrestling shows.
